This topic deals with supplying data on the various components fitted to the Bosch EDC15C2 HDI diesel engine management injection system. This system is most often found fitted to Citroen / Peugeot 2.0 HDI diesel engines, as well as other manufacturers’ HDI diesel engines.

The following pages will detail in table format the main components fitted to the Bosch EDC15C2 as fitted to a 1998 Citroen Xsara 2.0 HDI (engine code RHY). The following tables supply fault codes, voltage values, resistance values, as well as component harness plug information.

 If Fault Code 0100 recorded by engine management ECM Engine speed is reduced to a maximum of 2200 RPM

ECM substitutes intake air temperature sensor with fixed temperature of 50 degrees C

Sensor resistance:
Check resistance reading across terminals 1 & 3 on Air Mass sensor


0  Degrees C = 5200 to 6500 ohms
10 Degrees C = 3800 to 4200 ohms
20 Degrees C = 2300 to 2700 ohms
30 Degrees C = 1600 to 1800 ohms
40 Degrees C = 1000 to 1400 ohms



Engine Coolant Temperature  Sensor - Fault Code 0115

  Engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor located in cylinder head coolant outlet housing  Connected

80 Degrees C - 0.8 volts approx

 If Fault Code 0115 recorded by engine management ECM
ECM substitutes engine coolant temperature sensor with fixed temperature of minus 10 degrees C during cranking, and 110 degrees C during engine running.


In addition engine cooling fan is operated by ECM at all fast speed conditions.

80 Degrees C = 500 to 600 ohms
100 Degrees C = 300 to 350 ohms
120 Degrees C = 160 to 200 ohms



Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor - Fault Code 0121 / 0221

Engine speed is reduced to a maximum of  2200 RPM

20 Degrees C = 2700 to 2900 ohms
40 Degrees C = 1100 to 1300 ohms
60 Degrees C = 500 to 600 ohms
80 Degrees C = 270 to 290 ohms
100 Degrees C = 140 to 160 ohms 


 

Fuel Pressure Sensor - Fault Code 0190 / 0191 / 1112 / 1138

If Fault Code 0190 / 0191 / 1112 / 1138 recorded by engine management ECM

A replacement fuel pressure of between 400 and 1000 bars is used and the engine speed is reduced to a maximum of
2200 RPM

If engine is running when fault occurs, engine will continue to run. When engine has been stopped, vehicle will not restart.
